‘Colder Than Here’ by Laura Wade performed by West Bridgford Dramatic Society
The West Bridgford Dramatic Society Studio Theatre, Stamford Road, West Bridgford, NG2 6LS is proud to present “A wonderful, subtle, moving play”.
West Bridgford Dramatic Society’s next main production is Colder Than Here by Laura Wade. As the sun comes out, and you think of the garden and being outdoors, and long summer breaks, our next production is Colder Than Here – set both indoors and outdoors – via the magic of projection – no worries about rain. And there will be cream teas and prosecco served in the interval on the patio – weather permitting.
Colder Than Here, Laura Wade’s beautifully poised family drama, combines humour, pathos and understated but undoubted love within a family facing a future without its lynchpin. Even in the face of death, there are boilers to be fixed, cats to be fed and plans to be made. Pitch-perfect writing, three-dimensional characters, and an ability to wring moments of laughter out of heartache and love in the face of fear make this a powerful play, not to be missed.
Laura Wade is perhaps best known as the writer of Posh (2010). Colder Than Here was first performed at the Soho Theatre, London, in 2005.
Featuring the super-talented Lynn Burges, Richard Young, Ellie Ball and Lesley Flounders, rehearsals are already underway. Director Malcolm Todd said, “I love plays and the theatre, and from the moment I read this play, I knew we would do it well, and that our audiences would find it both engaging and thought provoking”.

About West Bridgford Dramatic Society
West Bridgford Dramatic Society is a club where people with an interest in drama meet, enjoy tremendous camaraderie and make friends for life – putting on really good plays along the way!
We have a good mix of members, aged from 17 to 70, some of whom have been with the Society for decades and some for weeks. During a season, we put on a variety of plays throughout the year ranging from comedies, through costume dramas to modern day thrillers, so there’s something for everyone. We perform three full-length plays, in February, May and November, and an evening of one act plays in July.
Apart from a summer and Christmas break, the Society meets every Tuesday at 7:45pm at The Studio Theatre for a variety of activities including play reading, technical workshops, theatre visits and preparing for upcoming productions.
